Stoner Recreation Center

Tennis courts in Stoner Recreation Center
Stoner Recreation Center gives players a practical park tennis option in Los Angeles, CA, with the listing centered around 1835 Stoner Ave. The listing shows a flexible tennis setup, which helps players decide whether to plan singles, doubles, a lesson block, or a small group session. The surface is not specified in the listing, so players should check conditions on arrival and bring shoes that work for typical outdoor tennis. Hours are listed as Dawn to Dusk, so it is worth planning around the posted window instead of assuming the court is always open. Since lights are not listed, plan around daylight and avoid cutting a close match too near sunset. When no reservation system is shown, expect public-court etiquette: share time, rotate after a set or hour, and check whether local leagues have priority. For players comparing tennis court around me, this location gives enough context to plan a practical hit instead of just hoping the court is open. Because the listing is marked free, it is especially appealing for recreational tennis, beginner practice, and no-pressure rallies.

Friendly neighborhood tennis courts. Easy street parking. Courts are in mixed shape and often being used by large group classes for kids. Be wary of errant balls!

I grew up playing USTA tournaments from the age of 9. I am half french so in the summers, I would play at Mouratoglou academy in the south of France. I won the singles state championship as a sophomore in high school. Played tennis at Temple University. I then played and coached in France before moving to LA where I also work at the Tennis Channel.

The combination of court access and open-court hitting gives Stoner Recreation Center a clearer identity than many one-line tennis listings. Los Angeles tennis often folds into a bigger park day, with canyon trails, studio-era neighborhoods, taco stands, coffee shops, and beach-bound traffic all shaping the rhythm of a match. It is also a good reminder that public tennis works best when players share space, respect posted rules, and leave room for the next group. Park courts are often at their best when players rotate kindly, keep warmups short, and leave space for the next group.
